In a recent roundtable about unions moderated by the Canadian HR Reporter, a senior executive at Canadian Pacific explains what unions accomplish for everyone.
"When you talk to anyone remotely connected to the world, they understand the role of unions providing what we have today. They're a key driver in the creation of the middle-class, for the reduction of work hours, paid vacation, all sorts of benefits that we all enjoy," Peter Edwards, CP's vice-president of human resources and labour relations, said.
The federal Conservatives (and some of their provincial counterparts), working to roll back labour rights to drive wages and benefits down for everyone, may want to take 30 seconds to listen to Edwards:
